Writing an E-book for Profit
Do you have some kind of skill that you want to share with the world? An e-book may be for you. E-books are a way to publish your information and distribute it (usually for a price) to whoever may want it. Obviously cheaper than the conventional ways to write books, writing an ebook can be very profitable for the author.
Many people have a book in them, but lack the funding and distribution channels to get it out to the market. Your book can be about anything, though usually instructional type e-books seem to do better than most other types. Many people look to the internet and e-books when they want to learn something, but maybe dont want to go to walden books. For the author, e-books are almost pure profit, and like most other information, is something that can be sold again and again while never actually having ownership transferred
Tips for e-books
Write about what you love. Writing about something you love, and have a lot of knowledge about is one of the best pieces of advice anyone can recieve if you are thinking about writing an e-book. If you love it, chances are there is someone else that loves it, or is atleast interested enough in it to want to buy literature on it. Whether your e-book is about gardening or even writing e-books, if it is a well written e-book, people will purchase it.
Keep it simple. People dont go for the convience of e-books because they are really looking for a long, hard to read piece of literature. Keep it simple. Make your point clean and concise.
Research. If you are planning on presenting reliable information in your e-book, you need to do your research. E-books are usually something that word-of-mouth advertising really helps. Well word of mouth can be good or bad. If the facts in your book are false, it won’t take long before people are not buying your ebook
Keys for writing E-books
Topic- Choose the topic of the ebook you want to write. You can choose from so many of the topics available. But choose one in which you have some knowledge or expertise and past experience. This will make the book better. You will be able to write it easily and effectively.
Objective – You should know the objective of the ebook before you even start on it. Objective decides many a thing.
Target- You should also know who your targets are. According to your target you will write the ebook. The same ebook topic may result in different ebooks depending on the target.
Plan- Plan is necessary for ebook writing. Make a plan how you will proceed, how many days you will need, when you will do what etc. It will divide your work in small parts which will make your work simpler and you will be able to finish it early.
Divide it in chapters – Divide the ebook and make it simple. Divide in chapters, headings, subheading and write on that. It will make your work easier and faster. You will be able to break down the complex task into some small and simple tasks.
Self publish – Publish the ebook by using different self publishing services offered by different service providers. When you publish an ebook, it will be available for the readers. You will be able to sell the ebook to the readers. There is software available that will also do this
What you will need
Direction. Writing a book is going to require a topic and understanding of your audience. If you have a website or blog that is focused around electronics, writing an ebook about knitting sweaters probably wont do well on your site, but an ebook on how to properly clean electronics would probably do pretty well.
Software. There are plenty of ebook publishing software sites out on the net. Honestly, if you want to spend your money on that kind of software, then you are welcome. The same results can be achieved with Word and adobe acrobat.
Once you have made your ebook, revised it, checked it, and put it into a transferrable package, such as .pdf, then you have to market your book. Your own website is obviously going to be the best place to start.
The one hard and fast rule for writing an e-book is make it interesting. Your topic may be something as random as how to properly wash your shoestrings, but if you make it well written, easy to understand, and fun to read, people will want to read it.
Give it a try and good luck!

Working from Home
An ever increasing number of individuals are looking to the internet as the source of their income. Many are giving up the rat race of the office and moving to a more comfortable lifestyle of working from home. They are ever searching the internet to find that one gold mine…that one Work From Home Career. But how can the new entrepreneur find their own “Work From Home Business” success?
Your first step is to come up with an idea. What do you want to do? Unfortunately, nobody can tell you what path to take. There are thousands of online business opportunities on the web at any given time. Research the different paths that you can take and find one that feels right to you.
While searching for your “golden opportunity” please remember the following: There Is No “Get Rich Quick” Opportunity! Online businesses take time and effort to grow, just like offline businesses. Do not fall for the hype because that is all that it is…..hype. There is no guarantee of huge amounts of money to be made in a matter of weeks. The Internet is a land of opportunity, not the land of make believe.
So what are your options? Internet Marketing is becoming a popular home based business. What is an Internet Marketer? According to the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, Internet Marketing is the “use of the Internet to advertise and sell goods and services. Internet Marketing includes pay per click advertising, banner ads, e-mail marketing, interactive advertising, search engine marketing (including search engine optimization, blog marketing, and article marketing.”
Because over one third of consumers who have Internet access available to them in their homes report using the Internet to make purchases, the opportunities for an Internet Marketer are endless. An Internet Marketer can choose to focus on one particular product and/or service or they can expand their reach into several different products and services, thereby increasing their profit potential.
Internet Marketing consists of business-to-business and business-to-consumer opportunities. The biggest push has been the business-to-consumer opportunity. On and offline business are taking advantage of the explosive growth of the internet by offering their commission based programs to Internet Marketers (affiliates) in order to get them to advertise their product. This concept works well for the Internet Marketer as they are able to set their own hours, work from the comfort of their own home and choose which products and services they want to promote.
A very popular affiliate program is SFI. SFI was launched in 1998. It is a member of the Better Business Bureau serving Southern Nebraska and is a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. It is currently touted as the largest affiliate network in the world as it currently has tens of thousands of affiliates in over 200 countries.
SFI is the exclusive marketer for the IAHBE (International Associated of Home Business Entrepreneurs) as well as Veriuni, a line of nutritional, cleaning, personal and pet care and telecommunication products, to name a few.
What makes SFI so popular is the commission structure. An SFI affiliate has the potential to earn commissions on a large scale, both by selling the products available and by recruiting additional affiliates.
Another popular affiliate program is Empowerism. Empowerism is an International Success Mentoring Online facility. Empowerism offers low-cost training and tools in Net marketing and is quickly rising in popularity among Internet Marketers.
ClickBank is yet another popular affiliate opportunity. ClickBank is one of the internet’s largest digital marketplaces. Thousands of popular products are offered by businesses worldwide. An Internet Marketer and join ClickBank and choose from a variety of products and services to market.
A twist on the Internet Marketing concept is the PlugInProfit website offered by Stone Evans. This acts as a spring board for many new Internet Marketers as it takes several popular, and successful affiliate programs (like the 3 mentioned above) and rolls it into one website. The new Internet Marketer can have a website built for them and be given the keys to use that website to jump start their business.
Though Internet Marketing is gaining in popularity among entrepreneurs, due to the sheer size of the internet, the growth that the internet is experiencing and the millions of products and services available worldwide, every Internet Marketer can find success. Unlike brick and mortar business, online businesses do not close down at night, do not close down for holidays or so you can take a vacation. Online businesses run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because the online business never closes, you are able to reach consumers worldwide at any given moment.
However, success does take hard work and dedication. As was stated, there are no get rich quick schemes. If you choose to go into business for yourself as an Internet Marketer, be prepared to work your business and learn all you can about Internet Marketing. You do not “set it and forget it”. However, you can build your business to the point that it runs fluidly even when you are not there.

Today, we are going to look at something that is still relatively new in the Internet Marketing arena: Social Bookmarking. Social Bookmarking is essentially using a social bookmarking service to bookmark your webpages or blog posts, so that other users of the bookmarking site can visit. When you bookmark a site, you tag it with keywords, and people can search for the keywords that reflect their interests at the social bookmarking site.
Does it work? Absolutely! In fact, this is a very fast way to generate really good traffic to your site – for free. Again, you will want to try to get them on your opt-in list, once they arrive at your site, so that you can bring them back again and again. Notice that I said ‘really good traffic.’ This is good traffic because the visitor finds your site by searching for the keywords that you’ve used when you bookmarked it. They are essentially looking for you. For this reason, it is important to use keyword tags, for each page, that are absolutely relevant to the content on that page. Don’t try to use unrelated keywords, this tactic simply won’t work.
There are numerous social bookmarking sites out there, and hitting them all, to bookmark each page of your website, could literally take days, if not weeks. Fortunately, there are social bookmarking services that will send your bookmarks and tags to numerous social bookmarking sites in one fell swoop.
You want a service that targets the best social bookmarking sites, and that service is Only Wire, at http://www.onlywire.com. Only Wire is free to use (another bonus). Getting set up with Only Wire takes a couple of hours, because you will need to go to each of the social bookmarking sites that it lists, register, and then put your username and password for each site into the list at Only Wire.
Once that is done, you will add the Only Wire icon to your browser toolbar (very easy to do – you just click, hold the mouse button down, and drag and drop it up there). Now, you are all set up. When you are ready to bookmark your pages, first go to the Only Wire site and login. Leave that window open. Open another window (tabbed browsers work great for this), go to your site, go to a page that you want to bookmark, and hit the icon.
You will be taken to the Only Wire add a bookmark page. Here, everything is filled in, except your keyword tags. List the keywords that are associated with the page you are bookmarking, and hit submit. You’re done with that page – move on to the next one. Nothing could be easier, and again, it is very effective.

Web Traffic - How To Bring the People to You! (pt. 6) - Web Traffic Control
The amount of traffic determined in a particular website will show its popularity over other sites. By evaluating the statistics of visitors, there is a possibility of locating the shortcomings of the site and improving it. This will encourage more visitors to view the site.
Nevertheless, it also needs necessary protection against harmful elements in the Internet. Therefore, in addition to encouraging site visitors, another factor to take care of is properly controlling the web traffic.
Limited Access
Most of the pages are accessible to the visitors. However, several sections need to be restricted, allowing only authorized people to visit such sections.
Examples of these sites are for downloading different genre of files such as music and movie files. Some sites are requiring the visitor to have their registration be completed before accessing its pages.
In case of online viewing subscription, visitors must have their own user name and identification number or password in order to gain access to the site’s pages. These kinds of sites are only allowing people who subscribed to their site’s services.
Increasing Web Traffic
Either there are “off-limit” segments in a particular site or “pay per view” sections, the main purpose of web sites is to gain popularity to web visitors. Even there is limited access, site administrators still formulate strategies to increase web traffic.
One of these strategies is by placing the site in popular search engines and purchase of advertisements such as pop-ups and bulk e-mail messages.
The site must be placed in the first page of the search engine. Remember that once the visitor already found one in the first page, the percentage of browsing the subsequent pages is getting lower.
Aside from proper placement of the site in search engines, other things can increase its web traffic. One way is by offering free e-books or articles. It can be used to build some links directly to that site. This can be done by sending e-mail to similar sites and asking if it is willing to be linked in that particular site.
Another is by writing to e-zines or to free article sites. It will be of great help in establishing a popular link directly to that particular site.
Paid Advertisement
There are sites that prefer advertising on other popular sites. It is usually called e-marketing. It takes the form of the following:
• Banner advertising. In most pages bears different banners of other sites. It is sold in thousands, and referred to as cost per impression (CPM).
• Pay per clicks. These are keywords or key phrases that advertisers are providing to their clients. The visitors can only “click” and gain access to a particular page if he pays for it.
Pop-up advertisements are also form of advertising to attract more visitors in a site. However, most people consider it as a nuisance and bearers of different genres of viruses.
Traffic Overload
Too much web traffic can slow down or even facilitate total failure of access to a certain site. It is usually caused by huge volume of file requests going to the server than it can handle. It can annoy the visitors accessing to some vital information. It is a factor that every site administrator must be considered.
Aside from overloading, several programs force a particular site to close. One example is the denial of service attacks (DOS attacks). It works by attacking a computer system or network. It can result to loss of service to users.
It sends more requests in a site than the actual one it could handle. Viruses have also been used for large-scale DOS attacks.
A sudden explosion of publicity may also cause web traffic overload. Examples of these are quickly propagating e-mails and link from a popular site that can result to a sudden boost in visitors that overwhelms the site.
Some websites have been forced to close after sudden mass increase of traffic. The ones forced to close are particularly those run by individual charter the bandwidth from an Internet service provider or a hosting site.
There are also sites supported by large companies running such have also caught their own servers over popularity.
It is important that a site can handle possible web traffic problems. Anticipate its consequences or get the site close is the decision of the site administrator.
